Walker And Sharp Progress At Mt Lawley Singles

South Perth was well represented at the Mt Lawley Consistency Singles Event earlier this month.

The well-run event is always a good lead-up to the pennant season.

On Friday Neale Griffin defeated Eddy Richardson (120-99) and Mick Palumbo (124-106) before falling in the last game of the day to Beau Manton (116-124). Ashley Sharp progressed through the day, winning his two games against local John Cottier Snr (127-93) and Neville Woods (120-103).

On Sunday David Mortley fell to Manning’s Shane Knott (76-124) and Troy Kinnane was eliminated by Wanneroo player Phil Potts (94-126). Scott Walker fared better, getting past Danny Gunzburg (122-78), Chris Parr (120-110) and Wayne Coyle (125-115) to join Ashley in the later stages of the event.

Monday saw Ashley Sharp’s demise in the alignment round, falling to John Slavich (75-120). Scott Walker missed the alignment round and defeated Bruce Eagles (124-76) to make the quarter finals where he lost in a nail-biter to Clive Adams (117.5-122.5).
