SPBC snare two midweek pennant flags

South Perth Bowling Club 1 White Pennant Winners

South Perth Bowling Club finished it’s pennant season in great style last Thursday by winning two pennant flags.

Both One White and Second Division had earned hosting rights the week before and that proved to be decisive.

One White took on Spearwood, who upset first placed Sorrento the previous week to make the final.

Because of that result, the team that won Thursday’s pennant playoff would also gain promotion to Premier League next season.

The game was close through the early stages, but at the game went on the Millers gained the advantage and won all three rinks to record a 77-48 victory.

Second Division, hosting Melville, was able to jump out to a decisive break, leading by as many as thirty shots as the game neared the half-way mark.

Melville closed the margin to single figures late in the day, but the South Perth side held their nerve to run out 69-55 winners.

Joining South Perth next season in midweek One Blue will be neighbours Como, who won a tense promotion challenge match over Belmont City, 59-58.
